Hi!
Fun fact/ cool story: I love pizza and my favourite flavour is probably peperoni.
Plan
Today we will have a look at verses about heaven and see whether we can ever ‘lose the right’ to enter heaven.
Prayer
Let’s pray before reading his word
Scripture
John 10:28-29
28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me,[a] is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
John 14:6
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Make sure to read it again a few times!
Analysis and Interpretation
Verse(s) | Analysis and Interpretation |
28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. | This verse explains to us that anyone who truly accepts Christ will be promised eternal life and that no-one can take this away from them. The key word here though is ‘truly’. It must be a genuine faith for Christ. If someone doesn’t care about loving others or God, but proclaims he believes in Jesus and thus will enter heaven, this is not likely to be a genuine faith. However, this is not for us to decide; that is God’s job. |
29 My Father, who has given them to me,[a] is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. | Jesus proceeds to explain how this right to give us “eternal life” has been approved by the God, who is the most powerful. If God wills, who can oppose this? As a child of God, heaven and eternal fellowship with him is our inheritance. The use of parallelism, where Jesus uses the word “snatch” again, reaffirms that he will not allow any of his sheep1 be taken away from him. |
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. | Although this is a different verse (both from John though), this explains to us the way we can get into heaven; Jesus pus it quite simply: truly believe in me (Jesus) and then I (Jesus) will give you “eternal life”. The word the “way” refers to how we may have to change our lifestyle, beliefs, and values to truly believe and love him. The word the “truth” refers to how belief in him is the one and only way to get to “the Father”. The word “life” refers to how he is the one who gives this eternal life. |
Summary
These verses tells us that once we receive eternal life, it cannot be taken away, and the way to receive it is to truly believe in Jesus and God with all your “heart, soul, mind, and strength2“
Reflection
When we go through dark times, it is easy to forget that we are children of God, the king of kings; we must never forget this fact and that this gift of eternal life is waiting for us in heaven. Let’s all love others and trust God today knowing he has reserved a place for us in heaven and is lovingly looking down at us.
Prayer
Father God, thank you for today and forgiving our sins. Help us to always trust you and to love others as you loved us. Help us to always whole-heartedly believe in you and accept you. Please protect us, strengthen us, and give us your wisdom today. Thank you Lord. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!!! 🙂
