Hello!
Fun fact/ cool story: I went on a 2.5km run today. Doesn’t hurt yet, but I know tomorrow my quads will be on fire.
Plan
Today we will look at what to do after we’ve sinned and how to recover from it.
Prayer
Let’s pray before reading his word
Scripture
Isaiah 1:18
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
Psalm 30:5
For his anger is but for a moment,
and his favor is for a lifetime.
Weeping may tarry for the night,
but joy comes with the morning.
Make sure to read it again a few times!
Analysis and Interpretation
Verse(s) | Analysis and Interpretation |
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. | From the beginning we can tell that Isaiah, the prophet who wrote this was talking to a crowd as he writes “let us reason together”. He proceeds to explain that, although our sins are infinite, they will be forgiven (by Jesus). The colour red seems to refer to our guilt before receiving God, while the colour white seems to refer to our salvation after we accept Jesus and he has wiped our slate clean. |
For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning. | This verse tells us that although we may feel guilty and feel that God is angry at us, we need to remain faithful and truly reflect on our sin so we can prevent it next time; that is what God wants. He doesn’t want us to beat ourselves up too much because his only son has already forgiven our sins; instead, he wants us to repent, grow in faith and get closer to him through this experience (although it would have been best avoided). The psalmist reassures us that, although we feel guilty and discouraged, a brighter morning will come when we recover from the sin and commit ourselves to God once again. |
Summary
These verses announce that all of our sins have been forgiven and that to overcome our guilt, we need to remain faithful to God and repent.
Reflection
We all sin. However, when we sin, let’s make sure we go back to God. Although it may seem difficult at the time, “joy” will come with the “morning” when we truly repent, turn from our ways and trust in God once again.
Prayer
Lord, thank you for today and thank you for making our sins as white as wool. We thank you for your sacrifice on the cross and please help us to always trust you. If we have sinned, please help us get stronger so we can overcome the sin next time. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
Thank you for reading today! Have a great day.
